Zones Congratulations

Congratulations to all our Kingsway athletes that nominated and competed at Zones this year. This year we had 305 athletes nominate, not all competed for various reasons. Kingsway is proud of each and every one of you.
We had 137 athletes in the U10 – U15 age group, who qualified at Zones 2014 to compete at the WALA State Championships on March 22nd & 23rd, 2014 in numerous events. We also have 22 athletes in the U16 & U17 age groups nominate to compete. We wish you all the best for States.

In the U7 – U9 age groups we won the following State Medals:
U7’ s Gold 7, Silver 9, Bronze 4 (20) / U8’s Gold 8, Silver 7, Bronze 4 (19) / U9’s Gold 19, Silver 9, Bronze 7 (35)

To the parents, club coaches and the many Kingsway athletics community who volunteer their time to take on Key Official positions or Committee positions at our Clubs, Centre and at State events we wish to thank you for all you have done to help our athletes be able to compete without your help and support Kingsway Little Athletics Centre would not be possible. Your dedication to our athletes and our sport was reflected by our athlete’s performances at Zones.

All clubs/centres encourage good sportsmanship. I would like to make special mention of two athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship at Zones, under adverse situations. Firstly U11B Zac Baldrey (EBK) who had to run his 800m on his own as the Clash Officers forgot to collect him. The second is U13B Liam Gartlan (LAN) who broke the State Discus Record with an amazing throw of 47.56m (beating the record by approx 1.5m) unfortunately due to an error made by the Key Official the spike was pulled from the ground and the throw was not measured and verified with a steel tape. Unfortunately under the WALA rules of Competition Liam’s record throw cannot be recognised.  Both Zac and Liam accepted what had happened and at all times showed outstanding sportsmanship even shaking the key officials hand.

Kingsway LAC wish all athletes the best for the upcoming State Championships.
